The Dyneema®

The world's strongest fiber.

Dyneema® is a high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMwPE) fiber. It offers maximum strength with minimal weight, making the number of possible applications virtually limitless.

Dyneema® fiber is produced using a patented gel spinning process in which the fibers are drawn, heated, elongated, and cooled. Stretching and spinning lead to molecular alignment, high crystallization, and low density. Dyneema® has extremely long molecular chains that transfer load more effectively to the polymer backbone. Therefore, it is stronger at the same weight or lighter at the same strength than alternatives.

15 times stronger than steel.

The Dyneema® fiber is 15 times stronger than steel at the same weight, with a tensile strength of up to 43 cN/dtex. In addition to its extraordinary strength, Dyneema® excels in cut and abrasion resistance and has high resistance to chemicals and UV. The Dyneema® fiber is so light that it floats on water and furthermore has a high modulus (resistance to deformation).

Bio-based material.

Dyneema® is bio-sourced, meaning that a part of its composition comes from natural materials. By sourcing waste from the timber and pulp industries, these bio-based feedstocks are blended with fossil feedstock in the manufacturing process to produce ethylene.

Bio-based Dyneema® has the lowest carbon footprint per unit of strength compared to other synthetic fibers.
